New Amsterdam

Am I the only one who was really fond of this show? It was on during the writer's strike a while back and so there are only 8 episodes of it, but then it was canceled... why do they remove shows like this but keep the terribly stupid ones? *biased* anyways, the full thing is still available legally on hulu so enjoy it. <3

Life in Technicolor II

I love the use of puppets in this video, especially the fact that they include the techies. Coldplay has an interesting style for theis "Viva La Vida" period in their careers, one of a tired bohemian military. Not to mention that the music has a wonderful feel to it.

pearls and black velvet

In the same strand as the last video post, The Chanel Paris-Moscou Pre-Fall 2009: Focus on Accessories video (isn't that a mouthful!) is quite beautiful, calm, an eclectic. I love the use of pearls with the faces, although they are entirely impractical it adds a wonderful artistic element. Maybe I'll make a headband with strands of different sized fake pearls on it out of something soft and dark? I don't know...

Horses and Advice

First of all, I have recently stumbled upon this post in Design Sponge about Ann Wood's project of creating 100 horses. It also includes a how-to, which I suggest you check out. Ann's own blog is here.

Secondly, I also stumbled into Nubby's post of 10 valuable lessons she learned one year out of design school. [via Galadarling] I love how she makes a point of noticing that it's experience, not money, which will establish your career.

The Professor's Daughter

I know that I am not done adding links to my previous posts for future reference materials, but I figure that now is as good a time as any to start actually writing something of any sort here.

I recently borrowed the Professor's Daughter from the library and highly recommend it. It includes many things which I enjoy including, but not limited to Victorian England, action, romance, and fantasical characters. It is also quite well drawn and the pictures compliment the words beautifully. It is a quick read, yet one which can still be thoroughly enjoyed multiple times (as opposed to those books which you read once and then simply sit on your bookshelf gathering dust.)

To read an excerpt of the book please follow this link.
To order it off amazon please go here.
